PXAMG is the first interface ever to bring the iPod™, HD Radio™ broadcasting, and many other portable media products into the vehicle
Clearwater, FL (January 9, 2008) – Peripheral Electronics®, AAMP of America’s innovative OEM Integration division, announced today that its revolutionary PXAMG Automotive Media Gateway has received a 2008 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Innovations Award.
The PXAMG is one of eight products awarded in the In-Vehicle Control/OEM Integration category. Sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the CES Innovations Award recognizes the most impressive consumer electronics products in 32 categories. Innovations Award Winners are selected by an independent panel of industry specialists for exceptional product and engineering design.
The PXAMG is the first interface ever to bring the iPod™, HD Radio™ broadcasting, and many other portable media products into the vehicle. Existing applications include late-model Ford, GM, Lincoln, Mercury, Scion and Toyota vehicles. Applications for Honda and Class 2 GM vehicles will soon ship, with plans already in the works for Chrysler, Hyundai, Mazda, Nissan and Volkswagen.
The PXAMG:
- Keeps the Factory Radio Intact – Plug-and-play interface eliminates the need to replace the factory radio, maintaining the vehicle’s original look and feel.
- Saves Time and Money – Cutting-edge technology and compact size provide huge advantages over buying and installing a new stereo with similar capabilities.
- Retains Original Vehicle Features – Advanced capabilities retain OEM satellite radio, rear-seat entertainment or controls, and all safety and convenience features tied to the factory system.
- Provides Multiple Entertainment Options – Additional auxiliary input connects MP3 players, satellite radio tuners, DVD players, navigation systems and other portable media to the vehicle.
- Delivers Digital-Quality Audio – Direct connection to the factory radio ensures static-free, crystal-clear sound from the iPod and many other portable media devices.
- Enables All iPod Features and Functions from the iPod and the Radio – iPod Interface displays information and provides iPod control from both the iPod and the radio.
- Works with Multiple Applications – USB connection allows the PXAMG to be continually updated with downloadable firmware to work with the latest applications.
HD Radio is available with the HD Radio Tuner (HDRT), a separate add-on to the PXAMG. The HDRT brings the power of HD Radio broadcasting—including significantly more content, crystal-clear sound, and no subscription fees—to vehicles that don’t have it.
“People are looking for something that expands their factory radio to include all the new technologies and portable media out there,” said Ron Freeman, CEO of AAMP of America. “The PXAMG does exactly that. And unlike many integration solutions, it retains OEM satellite radio, rear-seat entertainment controls and key driver convenience features for a seamless user experience.”
Freeman also emphasized the importance of the PXAMG to mobile electronics dealers and retailers.
“The PXAMG is a must-have interface [for them] because it makes their business viable in today’s marketplace,” said Freeman. “For many of these businesses, their success will depend on how openly they embrace OEM Integration. And the PXAMG is the ultimate solution—a single-SKU platform that brings all kinds of portable technologies into thousands of vehicles.”
Both the PXAMG and HDRT will be on display during this year’s CES at the AAMP of America Booth #5218 in the LVCC North Hall. Visitors can also listen to a vehicle demonstration of the PXAMG and HDRT at the iBiquity Digital/HD Radio Booth #1831 in the LVCC North Hall.
