PERIPHERAL ELECTRONICS® SHOWCASES THE FUTURE OF OEM INTEGRATION AT THE 2009 CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW
Clearwater, FL (December 10, 2008) – As the industry leader in OEM integration, it’s little surprise that Peripheral Electronics® is using the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show as a place to debut some exciting new technologies. But, what may surprise many that visit the AAMP of America booth (5206) is the extent to which Peripheral has embraced cutting edge technologies while keeping its solutions affordable, easy to install and compatible with as many makes and models as possible.
High on the list of new technologies being shown at CES are automotive Bluetooth and hands-free solutions. Peripheral’s solutions enter into the market during a “perfect storm” scenario for Bluetooth in the automotive industry: more and more states adopting hands-free mobile phone legislation, and mobile phone manufacturers are coming out with Bluetooth capable phones that support everything from mp3 playback, to GPS capability, to WiFi audio streaming. At CES, Peripheral will be showcasing multiple installation harnesses and interfaces for the popular Parrot and EGO hands-free kits, but it will also introduce a Bluetooth expansion device for use with its CES Innovation Award-winning Automotive Media Gateway.
A lot of talk has been going around the mobile electronics industry about vehicles being equipped with WiFi capability in the near future. With one automaker already beginning to take some steps in that direction, as well as plans about nationwide broadband Internet as a priority of the upcoming administration, Peripheral is seizing this CES as an opportunity to offer a sneak peek at its entry into the field of mobile WiFi. Expected to be released sometime in 2009, Peripheral’s prototype will be available for demonstration at the booth and a handful of product development technicians will be there to field questions and inquiries about this exciting new technology.
In the last year radio stations throughout the country have embraced HD Radio and there are now literally thousands of channels available in the new format. Peripheral is no stranger to the world of HD Radio, having launched a HD Radio upgrade kit for Ford factory-installed radios and a HD Radio Tuner for its Automotive Media Gateway in the last few years. At this CES, Peripheral will be showing off two new HD Radio upgrade kits – one for GM vehicles and one for Toyota – that are scheduled for release in the spring of 2009. These kits will also be upgradable with the Peripheral Bluetooth expansion module to allow users to enjoy digital quality AM/FM programming, as well as hands-free compatibility and data streaming from most cellular phones on the market.
